Letter: Let’s make the governments (state or federal) provide free birth control

Within the ranks of the Republicans, there seems to be a very major conundrum which remains with no solution in sight.

Everywhere Republicans are attempting to ensure that all women becoming pregnant must carry that fetus to term. Meanwhile, our television sets blast us with ads on the dire straits of children going hungry, or families that cannot afford diapers, all while Republicans like Kevin McCarthy seek to cut the current support for hungry children (SNAP) from receiving benefits.

And another “meanwhile” is the scientific opinion that this earth can only sustainably support 3.5 billion people while we are currently around 8 or 9 billion and climbing, especially as abortion is outlawed.

Other countries (Mexico, India, others in South America) are opening up to abortions, understanding the drain on society of too many (hungry) people.

American Republicans really do have their heads in the sand on this issue (as well as others).

My suggestion as a step to prevent further hungry children or the strain to provide diapers? Let’s make the governments (state or federal) provide free birth control, available from any doctor or clinic. All those television ads asking for donations tell us Republicans have failed the children and working parents who cannot afford diapers.
