Letter: Gov. Cox’s thoughts on population growth show he doesn’t seem to care about Utahns’ quality of life

The other day I was listening to a radio interview with our Gov. Spencer Cox, when a lady called in and expressed concern about how the expanding population in Salt Lake Valley is negatively affecting the quality of life in the valley.

She asked Gov. Cox what he is doing about the issue.

I don’t have his exact response, but I was so shocked by his response that I clearly remember pretty much what he said, something like, “Yes, more housing; we need more housing, more apartments, more single family homes, more high density housing; yes, especially more high density housing.” Then he went on with the interview, as though he felt that he had given the lady the answer she wanted.

To me he sounded like a robot, someone who had been hypnotized to say what he said. He is obviously in league with or under the control of those who seem not to care about the quality of life in our valley, who seem to feel that we have an unlimited amount of water resources, who don’t care that it is becoming more difficult to access our canyons for recreation purposes.

I have voted for Gov. Cox in the past, but no more.
