A Salt Lake City woman was shot to death on Sunday night in what police are calling “a potential domestic violence related killing.”
The shooting was reported at the Downtown West Apartments at 718 N. 900 West at 8:25 p.m. When police officers arrived, they found the victim — who had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest — inside one of the apartments.
The victim, whose name and age have not been released, was taken to a hospital, where she later died.
According to a news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department, officers detained two men who were inside the apartment when they arrived. Investigators believe the victim and the two men knew each other and that the shooting “does not appear to be random.”

According to police, this is the 12th homicide in Salt Lake City this year.
