Provo • It is the last battle for the Old Wagon Wheel. After 100 years, this is the final game scheduled between BYU and Utah State for at least the foreseeable future.
Perhaps just as importantly, though, this is the last chance for BYU to find its identity as a team before facing Notre Dame and Arkansas over the next two weeks.
Head coach Kalani Sitake this week acknowledged the team was behind schedule at this point in the year in their growth. Putting together a complete game will be a top priority as the Cougars welcome a 1-3 Utah State program that has been in steep decline since the start of this season.

Pregame storylines
• BYU’s defense has talked a lot about creating turnovers. Thus far, it hasn’t happened. Well, tonight will be a prime opportunity. Utah State has turned the ball over 12 times already this season and nine of those have been interceptions. If the defense has the personnel to create turnovers, this will be the game where is shows.
• Will Miles Davis continue to be the featured running back tonight? He got the running game going nearly single handily last week after Chris Brooks was essentially benched and Lopini Katoa couldn’t get much going. Here is more on how Davis got here.
• Jaren Hall will be in a nationally televised, standalone game tonight. It could go a long way for his draft stock next March. This is a story on Hall off-the-field from two weeks ago.
• Could Gunner Romney make his season debut tonight? We will see if the senior comes back after a kidney injury he suffered early in fall camp.
• Both coaches said they would like to see the in-state rivalry continue after BYU goes to the Big 12.
