After knocking off No. 9 Baylor in double overtime on Saturday, BYU pushed itself into the top 15 in the AP Poll.
The Cougars clocked in at No. 12 in the newest rankings, jumping up nine spots from a week ago. They also sit at No. 14 in the Coaches Poll.
Utah, meanwhile, moved down a spot in the AP Poll after putting up 73 points against Southern Utah. The Utes will be ranked No. 14 going into their matchup with San Diego State next Saturday.
For BYU, this is the third consecutive season the program has been inside the top-15. But the schedule does not lighten up.
The Cougars will be on the road in Eugene next Saturday to face No. 25 Oregon. The Ducks lost their season opener to Georgia, but beat Eastern Washington 70-14.
BYU’s win against Baylor was the first time the program has beaten a top-10 team at home since 1990 against Miami. It is the first top-10 win overall since 2018 when BYU beat Wisconsin on the road.
The Cougars started the season ranked No. 25 and were unranked in the Coaches Poll.
“It has been 32 years since we beat a top-10 team here at home,” BYU linebacker Max Tooley said. “So that alone, that is history. Only so many teams come through BYU football and wins these games.”
