Worker critically injured after electrical shock at Bonneville Community Correctional Center

A worker is in critical condition Wednesday after he was shocked by electricity at the Bonneville Community Correctional Center.

The man was working with equipment on the roof of the correctional center when he was shocked, according to a spokesperson with the Salt Lake City Fire Department. The center is located at 1141 S. 2475 West in Salt Lake City.

Emergency crews responded to the area at 11:40 a.m., and the man was flown by helicopter to a local hospital for treatment.

It’s unclear what kind of work the man was performing on the roof, and it’s unclear what caused the electrical shock.

The Bonneville facility works to transition up to 74 male parolees back into the community. The Utah Department of Corrections did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
