The time is fast-approaching for one of the most popular racing events of the year—Bonneville Speed Week and it’s taking place August 6-12 from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. daily. This free, six-day event is organized by the Southern California Timing Association (SCTI) and the Bonneville Nationals Inc., and will be held at Bonneville Salt Flats (Exit 4 on the I-80) in West Wendover, Nevada.
This all-day event is great for race enthusiasts of all ages and begins on Saturday, August 6 and ends on Friday, August 12. Racing fans and spectators get to interact directly with drivers and racing crews between racing heats on two separate official race tracks, including an oval track for distance runs and a 10-mile straightway for speed trials.
If you’ve always wanted to attend a Bonneville Salt Flats racing event, this is a great place to start due to its size, the ongoing daily races, and the diversity of competing classes. Wendover Nugget Hotel & Casino Welcomes Two New Team Members
The Wendover Nugget Hotel & Casino’s staff are always striving to deliver the best experiences for its guests and now it’s pleased to announce two new additions to their team—Doug Settle and Tom Kleinschmidt, the new directors of player development for the Wendover Nugget Hotel & Casino and the Red Garter Hotel and Casino.
According to Keith Frayne, general manager at the Wendover Nugget Hotel & Casino, Doug began his casino journey in Wendover working at the State Line Hotel and Casino (now the Wendover Nugget) in 1984 as a front desk clerk. After that, he was promoted to gift shop manager and assistant hotel manager. In 1994, Doug left the State Line for the Silver Smith Casino, where he was a table games dealer who dealt Blackjack, Craps, and Roulette among others. He left Silver Smith to join Rainbow, where he has been ever since.
Tom Kleinschmidt comes to the Maverick team with over 35 years of experience in the casino industry, said Frayne. In his most recent position, he was a casino host at the Rainbow Hotel and Casino in Wendover for the past 24 years. Tom’s casino journey began in Wendover in the 1980s when he accepted a job at Silver Smith Casino. After the Silver Smith, he worked in the casino industry in Laughlin and Mississippi before returning to Wendover in the late 1990s.
As directors of player development, Doug and Tom will be responsible for evaluating customer gaming activity and maintaining a superior guest experience at the Wendover properties. Congratulations to Doug and Keith for joining the Maverick team!
