In all the recent human reproductive buzz there’s one important principle I’ve not heard mentioned. Bigger than any ideology (i.e., a concern for “life” or, winning just to “win”), any religious persuasion or god, is the irrefutable, rock-solid fact that there are just too many of us humans already on this tiny, pale blue marble, for our own good.
By our lifestyles we are changing the weather, have set off the 5th Great Mass Extinction of other life forms in the history of the Earth, and are just too noisy in many of our actions; and these all are to our detriment.
As such, we should be doing all we can to limit our numbers, including making family planning, birth control, contraception, and, yes, abortion, as abundant and universally accessible to all of us, as humanly possible.
Remember, despite all our aspirations, there is no Planet B to fall back on, and we ourselves are responsible for the condition of our planetary home.
If we, as a species, are prudent about this, we may not go the way of the dodo bird.
