Christmas in July brings festive spirit early to Tuacahn

It may be triple-degree weather right now, with the red mountains of Tuacahn shimmering in the blistering sun, but just a few months from now the entire landscape will be shimmering beneath thousands of twinkling lights, beckoning all to enjoy the festive spirit of Christmas in the Canyon.

So why not start now with a little Christmas in July?

It’s never too early to get a jump on your holiday shopping and right now Tuacahn is offering 25 percent off tickets to see Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer happening Nov. 25 to Dec. 22 inside the Hafen Theatre.

Paying homage to the Claymation classic, Rudolph and all the North Pole characters you know and love will come to life in this musical rendition of the story that brought one little red-nosed reindeer out of obscurity and into people’s hearts.

“Offering an indoor Christmas musical has become a tradition for Tuacahn in the last several years and we hope it is becoming a tradition for families as well,” said Kevin Smith, Tuacahn CEO. “There’s just something about the holiday spirit and family togetherness that feels especially good when you add in classic Christmas carols and a favorite story that appeals to all generations.”

Filled with timeless holiday tunes like “A Holly Jolly Christmas” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” and all your favorite North Pole characters, now is the perfect time to secure your seat to watch the magic unfold.

“It’s really a remarkable musical,” said Scott Anderson, artistic director for Tuacahn. “The costumes, the set design, it’s all there to bring you back to the nostalgia of your own childhood Christmases.”

Enjoy a cup of hot cocoa on the plaza prior to the show or get into the spirit with a train ride on The Tuacahn Express. Then, once you enter the Hafen Theatre, plan to be transported to the North Pole where one reindeer struggles to understand why he is different, and ultimately how those differences can make a positive impact.

“You get to see all the misfits he meets along his journey, and that helps him — and all of us — to see that being different isn’t a bad thing. We all have something important to bring to the table,” Smith said.
