Guests gathered in celebration on Saturday at the Lindon site of a new temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, symbolically turning gold shovels in the wet earth of the construction area.
The three-story temple is being built near 800 East and Center Street in Lindon, and is estimated to be 81,000 square feet once completed. The new building was announced in 2020, and it will be the 25th temple in the Beehive State.

Utah currently has 28 temples announced, under construction, under renovation or in operation in total. Once completed, Lindon’s temple will be the eighth temple in Utah County.
Elder Kevin W. Pearson, Utah area president, held the dedicatory prayer at Saturday’s groundbreaking ceremony.
“May the construction of Thy holy house here in Lindon continue to bless this community with peace, love and unity,” Pearson said, according to a news release. “Bless those who labor here, that they may feel the eternal significance of what they are building and be blessed and protected as they labor in its construction.”
