West High School on lockdown as police investigate

West High School in Salt Lake City remains on lockdown Monday as police investigate a possible threat at the school.

Salt Lake City police spokesperson Sgt. Mark Wian said no one was injured. Wian did not have more details about why the lockdown was issued.

Two students have been detained as part of the investigation, Salt Lake City School District officials said.

“Our students are safe inside the building, and we currently have three police officers on campus working to determine credibility,” the district said in a Facebook post.

According to the district, a lockdown means all entrance and exit doors to the school are locked. Students, teachers and staff teachers are to remain in place until the situation is cleared.

The district advised that parents of West High students would receive information from the school’s principal.

Police continue to investigate.
