Memphis, Tenn. • The Utah Jazz got off to a fast start on both ends in the first quarter of Saturday’s Game 3 at FedEx Forum, surging to a 34-22 lead.
Utah generated one open 3-point look after another off of its pick-and-roll attack, and the Jazz were efficient in knocking them down, hitting 7 of 14 attempts.
Meanwhile, Rudy Gobert proved an imposing presence yet again, closing down the paint, as the Grizzlies shot just 9 for 23 in the opening 12 minutes.
Royce O’Neale, the primary beneficiary of Memphis’ lax PnR rotations, was the game’s high scorer, hitting a trio of 3s for 9 points. Ja Morant led Memphis with 8.
