Letter: Who is telling us the truth?

I am astounded at the number of Trump flags (literal or figurative) that I see still flying. Fellow Republicans, no indisputable, or even credible, evidence of election fraud has been presented. Today’s multiple choice test has only one question: Who is telling us the truth?

1. Social media? Much good is found on social media, but it also presents many personal opinions and unverified information.

2. Internet sites? Much verifiable truth is also found here, but there is also a great deal of sensationalism to draw an audience, and considerable “disinformation.” But, let’s be frank: disinformation = lies.

3. Talk Shows? Are they presenting verified truth, or is this just more sensationalism to up their ratings?

4. Our president? Should we believe a president who is claiming voter fraud, but only in those states which did not vote for him? Does a person who is not willing to obey our laws and uphold a peaceful transfer of power to our next legally elected president deserve to be our president?

5. Yes-men? Should we believe the president’s supporters who claim election fraud, but who have no credible evidence that they are willing, or able, to present to a court of law?

6. Or should we instead believe the hundreds of trustworthy state leaders, numerous national leaders, including the U.S. Attorney General and the top leaders of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, who have put their jobs on the line (and lost them) to tell the truth about an honest election, plus the more than 80 independent judges who have devoted their lives to upholding the rule of law and the U.S. Constitution and who have unanimously dismissed every election lawsuit.

For a seeker of truth and lover of the Constitution, this test has only one correct answer.

Richard Merrick, Washington, Utah
