Bob Welti, the smiling weatherman at Salt Lake City’s KSL-TV from the 1960s to 1991, has died at the age of 94.
Welti’s death was reported Tuesday afternoon in a tweet posted by KSL anchor Dave McCann.
“He will always be a key figure in our KSL legacy,” McCann tweeted.

Welti was one of a trio who embodied KSL’s on-air personality for decades, alongside lead anchor Dick Nourse and sportscaster Paul James.
Nourse, 79, started at KSL in 1964 and retired from the station in 2007. James started at the station in 1965, called Brigham Young University football and basketball games for 36 years until his retirement in 2001, and died last October at the age of 87.
