West Valley City Police are asking for the public’s help regarding a homicide that occurred early Sunday morning near the Overlook Point Apartment Complex.
Police found the body of 22-year-old Jake Gengelbach in the parking lot of the Hire’s Restaurant in West Valley City. Police had been called to the Overlook Apartment Complex at about 1:40 a.m. after receiving multiple reports of gun shots. The officers were not able to find anything suspicious at the apartments but an officer later found the body of Gengelbach while searching nearby parking lots. Gengelbach had been shot and bullet casings were found near his body.
West Valley City Police investigators have little information about the case and are asking anyone who might have seen or heard something, or have any information at all, to please call 801-840-1000. Tips can be made anonymously.
