Eugene, Ore. • A chant emanating out of Oregon’s Autzen Stadium is receiving scrutiny on Saturday night.
During the second half of Oregon’s game against BYU, the fans were filmed chanting, “F— the Mormons.”
Real classy chants from Oregon fans and Students. Why is it ok to chant this about members of this specific religion? @oregonfootball @OregonGovBrown @Oregonian @uoregon @CNN @espn @FOXSports @CBSNews @NBCNews @FoxNews pic.twitter.com/ukhdP1hK7x

The scene immediately caused outrage online. Utah governor Spencer Cox called the incident “religious bigotry.”
“Religious bigotry alive and celebrated in Oregon,” Cox wrote on Twitter.

Oregon did not immediately respond to request for comment.
The game was broadcast nationally on FOX. However, it is not clear if the broadcast picked up the audio.
When BYU went on the road to USC last year, fans chanted the same thing.
USC ultimately apologized publicly for the incident.
