Volunteers and employees gathered Tuesday at Squatter’s Pub Brewery in Salt Lake City to assemble bicycles for schoolchildren.

Squatter’s played host to the build session, organized by the Can’d Aid Foundation, to put together 80 bicycles. The bikes will be given to first- and second-grade students at Washington Elementary, a Title I school in Salt Lake City’s Marmalade neighborhood. For some, it will be the first bicycle they have ever owned.

Can’d Aid provided tools for workers to assemble the bikes, while Squatter’s gave each worker a free beer.

The Can’d Aid Foundation has built 1,500 bikes since its founding in 2013. It also has shipped 1.25 million cans of water to disaster-stricken communities and donated more than 600 musical instruments.
