Here’s how Salt Lake City’s airport is faring even as weather wreaks havoc nationwide

Flight delays and cancellations caused headaches for many holiday travelers nationwide Friday morning, but Salt Lake City International Airport appeared to be faring better than many other airports on one of the busiest travel days of the year, according to a website that tracks publicly available flight data.

Airport officials expected upwards of 30,000 passengers to pass through security each day Thursday, Friday and Monday, according to a release earlier this week.

FlightAware’s “Misery Map,” which tracks cancellations and delays across the country, showed more than half theflights were still on time in Utah’s capital.

As of about 2 p.m. Friday, 30 flights were delayed and seven were canceled.

Meanwhile, weather caused significant issues with travel in and out of Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Dallas and other major U.S. airports.
