Two teens killed in North Ogden crash after vehicle fled traffic stop, police say

Two teenage boys were killed in a car crash early Saturday in North Ogden after their vehicle fled a traffic stop.

Police said an officer attempted to stop the vehicle at about 2:30 a.m. for “minor traffic violations” near the 700 East block of 3100 North. The vehicle then fled westbound on 3100 North at a high rate of speed, and as the car went through the intersection of 450 East and 3100 North, the vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree.

Two boys died at the scene, and three others were taken to area hospitals. An official said all five occupants were under the age of 18.

As of Saturday afternoon, police said the other three passengers’ exact conditions were unknown.

Alcohol and marijuana were found inside the vehicle, according to a news release from North Ogden police. Investigators are still trying to determine if impairment was a factor in the crash.

The passengers’ identities were not made immediately available. The investigation remains ongoing.
