A person found dead in Salt Lake City three days ago was apparently killed, and police are asking the public to help figure out what happened.
On Monday morning, someone called 911 to report that they had found an unconscious person at 400 South and 600 West, near the Salt Lake City Intermodal Hub, according to a Thursday news release from Salt Lake City police. First responders determined that the person, an adult, was dead.
The scene appears to have been centered beneath the overpass of 400 South, which crosses above the train tracks that run along 600 West, according to police images released from the crime scene.
Due to “suspicious circumstances” that Salt Lake City police did not specify Thursday, homicide detectives began investigating the death.
The cause of death was not immediately released Thursday, but an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Medical Examiner this week determined that the person’s death was a homicide.
The person’s identity has not been confirmed yet, police said. No arrests have been made.
Homicide detectives asked anyone with information about the case to call 801-799-3000 and reference case No. 22-178180.
This death marked the 11th homicide in Salt Lake City so far this year. The 10th involved pro bull rider Demetrius Allen, also known as “Ouncie Mitchell,” whom police said was shot and killed Monday by a woman he was in a relationship with.
