Orrin Hatch to be honored at the Utah Capitol before funeral

Former Utah Senator Orrin Hatch, who died on Saturday, will be honored at the Utah Capitol Rontunda next week.

Utah’s longest-serving senator will lie in state at the Capitol Rotunda from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, according to a news release from the Orrin G. Hatch Foundation.

Hatch’s funeral will then take place on Friday, May 6. The ceremony, hosted at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Institute of Religion at 1780 S. Campus Drive in Salt Lake City, will begin at 1 p.m. Mountain time.

Both events are open to the public, the foundation said.

Hatch, 88, died on Saturday surrounded by family in Salt Lake City, his office said. He leaves behind his wife, Elaine, his six children and dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
