Utah man survived 20 days in Alaskan wilderness after fire destroyed his cabin

A 30-year-old Utah man spent 20 days living in remote Alaska in makeshift shelters and rationing food before he was rescued Friday by authorities, according to FOX 13.

Tyson Steele’s cabin caught fire early in the morning on Dec. 17 or 18. He was asleep when the blaze broke out and only had time to grab some supplies and escape. His dog died, he told FOX 13.

Authorities located him Friday after seeing the “SOS” he had carved into the snow near his shelter.

Steele celebrated his rescue with a meal from McDonald’s.
